- Barcelona have scored 37 goals in 10 Women’s Champions League games this season
- The last four Women's Champions League finals have all featured more than three goals
- Recommended bet: Barcelona to win & over 3.5 goals

The PSV Stadium in Eindhoven plays host to the biggest game in European women’s football on Saturday when Spanish champions Barcelona take on German league runners-up Wolfsburg to be crowned Champions League winners.

Barca will be hoping to make up for losing to Lyon in last season’s final following their 4-0 win over Chelsea in the previous final, while Wolfsburg are searching for their first continental triumph since their second victory in this competition in 2014.

Team news

Barcelona’s star midfielder Alexia Putellas is expected to play now she has recovered from the cruciate-ligament injury that kept her out of most of the campaign.

Former Wolfsburg winger Caroline Hansen is expected to play after a rich vein of form was interrupted by a virus and Lionesses full-back Lucy Bronze is confident she will be available following knee surgery.

Marina Hegering is doubtful for Wolfsburg after she suffered a muscle injury in the recent 4-0 league defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt.

Wolfsburg have not kept a clean sheet in their last seven matches and their last 10 games have all featured more than two goals.

Barcelona have scored 37 goals in 10 Champions League matches this season and have lost just one of their last 23 league and cup assignments.

Caroline Hansen has scored seven goals in her last seven appearances for Barcelona.

The last four Women’s Champions League finals have all featured at least four goals

Prediction

Barcelona have been imperious in Spain this season, winning the league by a 10-point margin with a positive goal difference of 108, so Wolfsburg look to have their work cut out if they are to win the Champions League for the first time in nine years.

Barca have some of their big guns available after injury, particularly key midfielder Putellas and that does not bode well for the German side, who saw their title aspirations ended by a 4-0 defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt that opened the door for Bayern Munich.

They have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last seven games and could struggle against a team who should be guaranteed to enjoy the greater share of possession at the PSV Stadium on Saturday.

Wolfsburg could take some confidence from a 2-0 win in the second leg of their semi-final against Barca last season, but the tie was already dead after a 5-1 defeat in Spain.

While some major finals tend to be cagey affairs, the last four Women’s Champions League showdowns have featured at least four goals, and with both teams likely to look for a fast start, that pattern could continue, with the Spanish outfit coming out on top.
