Wolves came from 2-0 down with 10 minutes to go to secure an impressive West Midlands derby victory at Villa Park.

Danny Ings gave Aston Villa the lead just after half-time, expertly steering in a header from a John McGinn cross.

It was then a case of provider turning finisher as McGinn doubled Villa's lead midway through the second half via a deflected drive.

With just 10 minutes to go, Roman Saiss sparked a stunning comeback when halving the deficit from inside the six-yard box.

Wolves captain Conor Coady drew the scores level in the 85th minute before the visitors completed the job in the fifth minute of stoppage time — Ruben Neves' free-kick cruelly beating Emiliano Martinez thanks to a wicked deflection, sparking jubilant scenes in the visiting section.

After the victory, Wolves manager Bruno Lage could not contain his delight. Lage said: "Every time I believe.

"It's easy for me to say now I made the right choice. The other players who start or come on, help the team to win three points.

"The confidence came with hard work. The players are seeing what we are doing and with victories."

Since his Premier League debut on August 18th 2014, Aston Villa’s Ings has scored 58 goals in the competition, with Harry Kane (163), Jamie Vardy (125) and Raheem Sterling (85) the only Englishmen to score more in that time.

Aston Villa’s McGinn scored and assisted in the same Premier League game for only the second time in his career (72 PL apps), previously achieving the feat against Liverpool in October 2020.

Wolves defender Saiss scored his first goal in 23 Premier League appearances, with six of his eight strikes in the competition now having come away from home.

Wolves captain Coady netted just his second ever Premier League goal in his 122nd appearance in the competition and his first since netting against Manchester City in March.
