Serie A hots up this weekend as the Milan sides lock horns while Lazio take on Napoli in Rome.

Six of the league's current top seven remain unbeaten, with Jose Mourinho's Roma facing Udinese and league leaders Atalanta travelling to Monza.

Juventus face a tough task at Fiorentina as they aim to restore their dominance of Italian football.

Game of the week: AC Milan vs Inter Milan (Saturday, 5pm)

The first Derby della Madonnina is here as last season's top two go head-to-head at the San Siro.

AC Milan are yet to lose in the new campaign as they embark on their first title defence since 2011, but they have drawn two of their opening four fixtures.

Inter Milan have suffered defeat already in 2022-23 — a phenomenon that only occurred four times in the league last season.

The last meeting between these two giants ended in jubilation for the away side, with Inter progressing to the Coppa Italia final where they would go on to lift the trophy for the eighth time.

In Serie A, it was Milan who emerged victorious in February and they will be looking to win consecutive league games against their rivals for the first time since 2011.

Lautaro Martinez has been involved in a goal in each of his first four league appearances so far this season and will be looking to make that five against Stefano Pioli's side.

Udinese vs Roma (Sunday 7.45pm)

Paulo Dybala bagged a brace in Roma's 3-0 win over Monza in midweek

Roma have started the new campaign with a flourish as they remain undefeated and joint top of the league.

Publicidad

They love a game against Udinese, where they boast a record of 15 wins and two draws in their last 19 clashes.

Paulo Dybala was instrumental in helping his side overcome Monza in midweek and the Argentinian has scored 10 times against Luca Gotti's men, more than any other opponent.

These two teams stumbled to a 1-1 stalemate back in March, but there have not been consecutive draws in this fixture since 2002.

Lazio vs Napoli (Saturday 7.45pm)

Lazio and Napoli boast identical records after the first four outings (two wins, two draws) with Napoli sitting higher in the table due to their superior goal difference.

The two have not shared the points in Serie A since 2016, with nine of the previous 11 clashes resulting in victory for the visitors.

However, Luciano Spalletti's side have drawn four of their last six and Maurizio Sarri's men have tied their last two, so something has to give in this one.

Ciro Immobile will be hoping to make an impact. The Italian has been involved in nine goals in his last 10 Serie A meetings against Napoli, but he has never lost more times than against this weekend's opponents.

Fiorentina vs Juventus (Saturday 2pm)

Dusan Vlahovic's shot map in Serie A in 2022-23 so far

Fiorentina have conceded 268 goals against Juventus, but prevented the Old Lady from breaching their defence in May with a 2-0 win over the 36-time champions.

Publicidad

In fact, Juventus have not won on the road at Fiorentina since 2018, but with Dusan Vlahovic having scored 11 goals in his first 19 league games under Massimiliano Allegri, the result may be different this time.

The hosts have not won consecutive matches against their opponents since 1998 and their recent form suggests they may be in for a tough task — they have failed to score in their last three domestic games.

Having picked up a point against Napoli in their last home match, the Gigliati will be hopeful of causing another upset this weekend.

Monza vs Atalanta (Monday 5.30pm)

Top meet bottom on Monday night as Atalanta travel to Monza, one of two sides in Serie A yet to pick up a point.

Atalanta have only lost one of their last 21 matches against promoted teams but that defeat came in against Empoli a few months ago, so there is some hope for Monza.

The hosts have conceded 11 goals in their first four matches, more than any other side. If they lose on Monday, they will become only the third team to lose their opening five fixtures in the competition's history.

Andrea Petagna will be savouring this match, having scored five goals against Atalanta. He will need to be at his best to down the high-flying Dea in this one.
