Liverpool vs Toulouse predictions: Much-changed Reds can continue Euro record
- Liverpool have won their last six competitive matches at Anfield
- Toulouse have scored in each of their last six matches
- Recommended bet: Liverpool to win and both teams to score
It is Game Week Three of the Europa League and two unbeaten teams meet at Anfield as Liverpool and Toulouse go head-to-head.
The Premier League side currently lead Group E with two wins from two, with Jurgen Klopp keen to seal qualification as early as possible.
Toulouse though will be aware that a positive result on Merseyside will put them in a strong position to get out of the group.
Team news
Liverpool are expected to make several changes from the side that beat Everton in Saturday’s Merseyside derby clash.
Curtis Jones looks likely to start in midfield, with his current suspension not applicable in Europe, while Wataru Endo could well join him in the middle of the park.
Darwin Nunez was only on the bench against Everton and could be handed a start on Thursday, while the fit-again Cody Gakpo may also come into contention.
Andy Robertson and Thiago Alcantara are both sidelined through injury, while Ben Doak will face a late fitness test to see if he can feature.
Toulouse are set to be without Belgian defender Maxime Busi once again, as he remains sidelined with a thigh injury.
Meanwhile, Morocco forward Zakaria Aboukhlal has been ruled out until November with a knee problem.
The stats
Liverpool are unbeaten in their last 12 home Europa League ties.
Jurgen Klopp’s men have scored 2+ goals in 10 of their last 11 games.
Toulouse are unbeaten in their last four matches — two wins and two draws.
Mohamed Salah has bagged four goals in the last two matches — against Everton and Brighton.
Cameroon striker Frank Magri has scored twice in Toulouse’s last four matches.
Liverpool won 4-0 when the teams last met in Europe, in the 2007-08 Champions League.
Prediction
Liverpool have gone 14 games without defeat in all competitions at Anfield and go into Thursday’s game having won their opening two games in the group.
Defensively they have not looked that secure, with Saturday’s 2-0 win over Everton just their third clean sheet in 12 matches this season.
They are missing first-choice left-back Andy Robertson due to a shoulder injury, which may leave them more susceptible on the counter-attack.
Toulouse’s away record will be a big concern for boss Carles Martinez Novell, who has seen his team fail to win any of their last five games on the road.
That sequence includes a 1-1 draw at Union Saint-Gilloise in this group, when they took the lead from the penalty spot before conceding to the Belgians in the second half.
But the Ligue 1 side have scored in each of their last five matches and they will feel they can at least find the net on Thursday, against what is likely to be a much-changed Liverpool team.
