Coventry vs QPR predictions: Sky Blues can sign off with a win
- Coventry have lost only five of their 22 home league games this season
- QPR have scored just two goals in their last four away fixtures
- Recommended bet: Coventry to win
There is nothing riding on this final-day game in the Championship on Saturday and visitors QPR will be delighted about that after escaping the relegation battle with back-to-back wins.
Hosts Coventry competed well in a 2-1 defeat by second-placed Ipswich on Tuesday but will be keen to sign off with a victory after fading out of contention for the play-offs.
Team news
Coventry centre-back Liam Kitching is suspended and fellow defender Joel Latibeaudiere is set to miss the game with a muscle injury picked up against Ipswich.
Luis Binks (Achilles) remains out, along with Victor Torp (stomach) and winger Fabio Tavares (ankle), but Ben Sheaf was able to return to action on Tuesday.
QPR were unchanged for their last outing against Leeds and have reported no new issues, leaving only Michael Frey, Rayan Kolli and Taylor Richards out of contention.
The stats
Both teams have scored in eight of Coventry's last 10 Championship home games.
Coventry won the teams' first league meeting 3-1, with all the goals coming in the second half.
QPR have scored only 17 goals in 22 away league games this season.
There have been three or more goals scored in 19 of Coventry's last 21 Championship matches.
Both teams have scored in only one of QPR's last six games.
Prediction
Coventry have had a decent season overall, getting to the fringes of play-off contention in the Championship and reaching the FA Cup semi-finals, but they will be anxious not to end it on a low note.
The Sky Blues have not won any of their last six games and will want to sign off on a more positive note with a home success against QPR.
That winless run does include their fantastic effort against Manchester United at Wembley in the FA Cup and prior to this late-season downturn in results they had won five in six.
The pressure is off for QPR, who secured their survival with a stunning 4-0 home win over Leeds in their last outing, which followed a 1-0 success over Preston at Loftus Road in the game before.
Now six points ahead of 22nd-placed Birmingham with only one game left, the Hoops can breathe a sigh of relief and few would begrudge them a less energetic effort in their finale.
Coventry arguably have more of an incentive to win this match than their visitors as they would want to cling on to their place in the top 10. They head into the weekend in ninth spot and can still overhaul Middlesbrough for eighth, but Preston, Bristol City and Cardiff are all in position to pounce if they slip up against QPR.
The Sky Blues missed chances that might have upset Ipswich's promotion plans on Tuesday but they should be capable of ending on a high note against a team that has been battling relegation for the majority of the season.
