WA kept wickets in hand throughout their innings and nearly pulled off an upset in their run chase, but ultimately fell 6 runs short of NSW's total. Anika Learoyd was the star of the show in the first innings, scoring a magnificent century to get her season off and running. Katie Mack and Claire Moore pitched in with 69 and 50 respectively to pile on 298 in their 50 overs. WA gave it everything, rotating the strike beautifully through the middle overs to stay within reach of their lofty target. With 11 balls to go they needed just 17 runs, but lost 4 wickets in the dying moments and NSW killed any chance of an upset. WA conceded 22 extras while they were bowling, so you'd have to think the result might be different if they kept that under control. These two teams will be back in action on Saturday, let's hope for another thrilling game.
