Mark Robins' Coventry will be hoping to see Coventry perform as well as they did against Tottenham in midweek.

- Swansea have lost their last two Championship away games
- Coventry have scored the first goal in three of their last four matches
- Recommended bet: Coventry to win

Coventry suffered an agonising EFL Cup exit at the hands of Tottenham on Wednesday, but the league has always been their priority and they will be looking for three points at home to Swansea to boost their promotion push.

The Sky Blues lost 2-1 at home to Spurs having led 1-0 with 87 minutes expired, but they played some great football on the night and should have been out of sight before the Londoners’ late show.

However, Mark Robins’ side can ill-afford to feel sorry for themselves because they sit 14th in the Championship, four points outside of the top six.

The Swans rose to 11th after last Saturday’s 1-0 win at home to Norwich, but they are yet to pick up any points on their travels.

Team news

Coventry are boosted by the availability of key midfielder Ben Sheaf, who returned from an ankle injury as a late substitute in Wednesday’s EFL Cup loss to Tottenham.

Winger Raphael Borges Rodrigues (thigh) is yet to feature since his summer arrival from Macarthur FC.

Swansea's Josh Tymon suffered from illness last week and was dropped to the bench with Kyle Naughton taking his place.

They will contend for the left back slot, but Swans head coach Luke Williams is unlikely to make many changes and has a fairly healthy squad with Andy Fisher (groin) and Josh Ginnelly (Achilles) the only definite absentees.

The stats

Coventry have scored the first goal in three of their last four matches, while the Sky Blues have netted in six of their last seven games.

Swansea have lost their last two away fixtures and have scored just one goal in their last three matches.

The Swans’ last four games have all featured less than three goals.

Prediction

Coventry were outstanding for the vast majority of their midweek loss to Spurs and they can bounce back with an important league win over Swansea in the West Midlands.

Sky Blues’ manager Robins was rightly proud of his team after their midweek display which was immensely strong despite seven changes to the starting line-up.

Key players were held back for the weekend and influential midfielder Sheaf was given his first minutes of the season after recovering from injury.

Robins may revert to the team which drew 1-1 at Watford last Saturday having created the better chances.

Coventry will feel they should have beaten Watford and Spurs and they may have better luck against Swansea, who have been strong at home and rather passive on the road.

The Swans lost 1-0 at Middlesbrough and West Brom and were outplayed on both occasions.

Williams’ side have been outshot 36 to 11 on their travels and they face disappointment this weekend.
