Supreme Novices' Hurdle Best Bet: Workahead @ 13/2

It might be worth taking a chance on the Henry de Bromhead trained, Workahead. The yard landed this contest last season and this son of Workforce could not have been any more impressive when beating William Munny at Leopardstown last time out.

Key Talking Points: Is Majborough a "good thing" on day one?

Majborough has been mightily impressive so far this season. He made a couple of errors early last season, but is that enough to oppose the favourite?

Arkle Best Bet: Majborough @ 8/15

No is the short answer. This JP McManus-owned prospect may have made some errors at Leopardstown last time but his jumping got better as the race went on and expect him to improve again here. He already sets a rock solid standard on form and looks hard to beat.

British-trained horses have a remarkable record in this contest, winning every renewal since 2006. How strong is their hand this year?

This looks like a golden opportunity for the Brits to get on the board on day one and the one that appeals most is Whistle Stop Tour who was highly progressive over this sort of trip earlier in the season and was unsuited by shorter at this venue last time.

Close Brothers' Mares' Hurdle - Cheltenham 3.20, March 11th

Key Talking Points: Can anything beat Lossiemouth?

Lossiemouth was switched to the race from the Champion Hurdle at the declaration stage. Will choosing the easier contest pay dividends for the Champion Trainer?

Close Brothers' Mares' Hurdle Best Bet: Dysart Enos @ 25/1

It may do but she took a heavy fall at the Dublin Racing Festival and horses that have fallen last time out don't have a good record at the Festival.

Therefore it may be worth taking a chance on Dysart Enos who has often given the impression this sort of trip would suit and the ground will not be an issue for her either.

Nicky Henderson's stable star has done nothing wrong in two starts this season bar a late error on Trials Day at Cheltenham.

He still had enough class to beat Lossiemouth with ease on his penultimate run and Henderson is a master at getting these top class performers back to their very best.

The Irish have dominated this contest, winning each of the last seven renewals and has the handicapper done enough to stop the Irish raiders this time.

Fred Winter Juvenile Handicap Hurdle Best Bet: Solar Drive @ 25/1

Given the record of the Irish in this contest, an opening mark of 124 looks really lenient for Solar Drive, who ran a cracker at Musselburgh last time when unlucky not to get his head in front. He is taken to go one better here.

Princess Royal National Hunt Challenge Cup Novices' Handicap Chase - Cheltenham 5.20, March 11th

Key Talking Points: Now it's a handicap, will it level the playing field?

Another race that has been dominated by the Irish but it is a handicap this time and that may help bring the British horses into play.

Olly Murphy's seven-year-old Resplendent Grey was always going to find 2m4f too short here on Trials Day but the experience over the Cheltenham fences will stand him in good stead and he is often given the impression that this sort of trip may suit.
