Foden: City have sights set on another Treble
Phil Foden says Manchester City have their sights set on repeating last season's historic Treble triumph.
The England ace, 23, scored one and set up two to inspire City to a 3-2 comeback victory over RB Leipzig to secure top spot in Champions League Group G.
Though 2022-23 will always have a special place in the club's history, Foden insists Pep Guardiola's men are capable of repeating the feat.
Speaking to LiveScore, he said: "Last year was hugely successful for us but we're so determined to do it again.
"That's what I like about these lads. We don't sit on what we did last year, that's gone now.
"When we did it, it was an unbelievable feeling. Once we win something, we celebrate it as a team and we all want that feeling again."
Foden did not shy away from the fact the European champions fell short of their usual standards in a disappointing first half at the Etihad.
Lois Openda's brace gave Leipzig a shock 2-0 lead at the interval, which prompted some strong words in the home dressing room.
Foden added: "I think the lads knew every one of us could do better.
"In terms of on the ball, we gave it away cheaply and we said at half-time that we're going to have to keep it a lot better.
"We know we only need one goal at the Etihad because our home record is fantastic.
"Once we got the first one, the crowd were so loud. They got behind us and it seemed to change the whole rhythm of the game."
Match-winning performances are becoming a hallmark of City's No47, who continues to develop at a frightening rate.
Yet the versatile star believes he can still improve further in the years ahead — particularly under the watch of Guardiola.
Foden said: "Pep is the best manager I could've asked for really. He's got amazing attention to detail.
"I've still got so many things that I want to get better at, though. Especially in that role I played tonight in midfield.
"I need to be more alert on the defensive side and get my positions right and I know that. I'm trying my hardest to improve."
